Gold markets formed a massive shooting star during the week, showing exhaustion at the $1600 level. After all, most of the move during the week was due to the noise in the Middle East, which seems to be calming down.
Silver prices have fallen below the $18.00 level, as the sharp gains seen early in the week have evaporated. Iran and the U.S. appear to have de-escalated tensions, but the markets remain unsettled.
The gold markets went back and forth during the trading session on Wednesday, spiking above the $1600 level one point before pulling back drastically. Ultimately, this is a market that has been overextended for some time, and quite frankly at this point it looks like cooler heads are going to prevail.
